What is there to do for young families in Aylesbury?

With Aylesbury becoming a hub for young families, there’s no end of things to do with young children in the area. The Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery is perhaps the most popular of attractions for young children. The gallery is a brilliant place for kids to let their imaginations run wild, like walking into a giant pop-up book. For families with animal-loving children, The Bucks Goat Centre in nearby Stoke Mandeville is a great day out. The friendly petting zoo provides handling lessons every day to allow kids to get close to chicks, cute guinea pigs and adorable bunny rabbits. There are also some lovely goats to meet and a small play area. 

For families with children aged 6 and over, there’s the Wendover Mystery Treasure Trail. It’s a self-guided themed treasure trail based in the nearby town (you can download the trail booklet online) and clues range from a historical plaque to the numbers on a drain cover! 

What is there to do for young adults in Aylesbury?

Families with older children or young adults also have plenty to do in Aylesbury. Rogue Racing and Rogue Bowling are great for families with a competitive streak or friends looking for a fun activity. For movie lovers, there’s the Odeon Cinema. There’s plenty of outdoor activities like walks and trails in The Chilterns and lots of shopping options in town such as Friars Square.

There’s also  Go Ape at Wendover Woods  for the more adventurous – a tree rope course in the forest canopy. 

What is there to do for adults in Aylesbury?

Aylesbury is steeped in history. For adults looking for a historical day out, there’s Waddesdon Manor– a miniature Château de Chambord in the Aylesbury Vale. Visit England named the manor ‘Large Visitor Attraction’ of the year in 2017. The Chiltern Brewery is a quick drive away and is the oldest brewery in Buckinghamshire. They offer a tour of the brewery that finishes with a beer and food tasting experience, and complimentary beer is served on arrival.

The Aylesbury Waterside Theatre is a great asset to the area, with shows ranging from Cinderella to live stand-up from Alan Carr.

What amenities are there in Aylesbury?

The Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre boasts three fantastic swimming pools, a 100 station gym, an artificial football pitch and a group cycle studio. The town has two shopping centres – filled with well-known chain stores and independent shops. There’s also a traditional market in the town centre that takes place every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9am-4pm.
